WordCamp Vancouver Contributor Day on Sunday August 16th

WordCamp Vancouver this year will be followed by a Contributor Day on Sunday, August 16th. It will take place at BCIT downtown campus between 10am and 4pm.

If you have ever been interested in learning about ways you can contribute to WordPress in coding and non-coding ways, this day is for you.

We will be working on:

  • code/bugs in core
  • documentation
  • working on videos on wordpress.tv (mostly subtitling)
  • support forums

I you have experience contributing already, we’d love to see you there as well. You can help others and if you’re interested, maybe even lead a group.

BCIT Downtown
555 Seymour St.
Room #830
10am-4pm

I lead the Diverse Speaker Training group in the WordPress.org Community Team. We have a workshop that encourages more diverse folks to apply to speak at WordPress events. I helped organize the first BuddyCamp and for three years co-organized WordCamp Vancouver. I was named one of the top 100 Influencers of WordPress in 2014 by Torque Magazine and one of the top 10 Women of WordPress by CloudWays.

  1. Another area of contributing that may interest people is the Meta team. We maintain all of the official websites — *.WordPress.org, WordCamp.org, WordPress.tv, etc.

It’s often a good team for developers who love writing plugins and themes, but aren’t as interested in Core. We also need help with design, documentation, accessibility, etc.

I’ll be at the contributor day and am happy to help anyone who’s interested in getting involved 🙂
